Our Mission Statement

St. Brigid’s Mobile Veterinarian (MV) has the primary objective of serving the client as they see best for their pet. Through education and guidance regarding medical and ethical standards, St Brigid’s MV helps clients to best balance their responsibilities as an owner with other concerns or constraints, whether they be financial, familial, legal, or otherwise. While recognizing the client’s good will, St. Brigid’s MV is the patient’s advocate, striving for their highest possible welfare within the means of the client.

Who is Dr. Lynn?

Dr. Lynn grew up in a large family in Washington State, dreaming of becoming a veterinarian since she was 4 years old. She nursed this love for animals by helping to care for anything from pet hamsters and pet chickens (her baby chicks slept in her arms until they were old enough to live on the farm) to dogs, cats and numerous farm animals, which were more like pets than livestock. Aware of her dream, the local librarian would specifically set aside any new books about animals until little Dr. Lynn came to check them out. Dr. Lynn’s family supported her by making sure that any medical care tasks for family pets or horses fell to her, and she was often at her father’s side helping to treat the livestock as well.

Realizing her dream in 2009 when she graduated from Washinton State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Lynn moved to Prosser, WA. Dr. Lynn immediately began practicing as an associate veterinarian at a local companion animal practice, serving the surrounding community in that capacity for 15 years.

During that time, Dr. Lynn and her husband became parents to five beautiful children, fostering bonds to the community through their local church and city parks and recreation. Dr. Lynn’s respect for the people of the lower valley has broadened through this time and her love for the community grows every day.

Dr. Lynn now owns various pets, including her Great Pyrenees, Brigid, not far from being a sixth child, as well as chickens, canary birds, and a variety of fish. Dr. Lynn loves her animals and knows you do, too! She is excited to help you care for and make the best medical decisions for your animals.

Why mobile?

St. Brigid’s Mobile Veterinarian is established and run by Dr. Celesté Lynn. Dr. Lynn is living her dream job, serving the people of Yakima’s Lower Valley and Tri cities areas by providing care for their pets. Since Dr. Lynn was 4 years old, she dreamt of offering care for animals at family homes.

For the last 15 years, Dr. Lynn worked at a local Prosser companion animal clinic. Dr. Lynn’s commitment and relationship with the local community as well as clients from surrounding areas has deepened and broadened. Though when she moved here with her family in 2009, she planned to move on in a couple of years, Dr. Lynn can no longer imagine working anywhere else.

Over the years, the needs of our community have not only increased, but shifted. Many clients have expressed the need for more veterinary care options, especially the need for house calls to accommodate their pets’ stress of coming to a location outside their familiar environment, as well as for accommodation of busy schedules and personal travel restrictions. One of the most heart-touching requests has been for in-home euthanasia. Pet owners are often distressed when their beloved companion’s final moments are in an examination room instead of at home, where warm memories and family love pervade their surroundings. Dr. Lynn has internalized these concerns and has developed a mobile veterinary service which promises to address these needs and help fill the gap in companion animal care requirements in our community.

Why St. Brigid?

St. Brigid is one of Ireland’s most beloved saints. Like all of Ireland’s saints, St. Brigid was attached to the land and livelihood of her fellow men, with a special heart for the animals. Historically, she traveled Ireland with her cow beside her cyclically throughout the year, offering help for any of the people’s needs. It is even recorded in tales that, when St. Brendan returned from his travels across the ocean, she humbly chastised him for failing to speak to the animals he encountered for, “They are God’s creatures also.”

When reflecting on our purpose as a mobile veterinarian, St. Brigid’s focus on the people’s needs first, while keeping in proper tribute the contribution of their animals to their needs and welfare, was beautifully inspiring. Together with her habit of traveling the countryside alongside her guidance, protection and intercession for people and their animals, St. Brigid was the obvious choice for our name and logo. She helps us to recognize the value of our pets, the way they contribute to our welfare, and how we can commit to elevating theirs.
